How to Intercede for the “Seven Kingdom Mountains”

Matt 17:19-20: “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” (KJV)

The 7 Kingdom Mountain structures have been talked about for a while, from Bill Bright to Johnny Enlow to Lance Wallnau and more; but as intercessors, do we know how to intercede for these mountains? There certainly has not been enough intercession concerning these mountain “structures” and it is time to move from theory to action! Of course we do not want these mountains to be removed; it is just that certain demonic entities and idols in the mountains need to be removed as we restore the order of heaven and rid these mountains of darkness so that light prevails and more will be saved.

If you are not familiar, the seven “mountains” of Education, Business, Government, Media, Religion, Family, Arts and Entertainment can either be ruled and dominated by God – or by the devil. The enemy, Satan, still has a lease on this world and we have been instructed to “have dominion” over the enemy, taking the kingdom back for His Glory so that more will be saved and lives will be changed. Of course, we do not take dominion in the flesh or by ungodly force or control but in the spiritual in intercession, while others such as evangelists and marketplace ministers can take action in the natural to bring souls to salvation, train and teach them. It is our job to disciple nations and this can happen through every mountain of society in all nations.

“Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet” in Psalm 8:6 means that we have the right to take dominion and authority in this world to change things for God – instead of things running amuck against God. We already have this authority since Christ gave it to us by His shed Blood on the cross and His death, burial and resurrection but it has to be enforced – it does not automatically happen. Satan will take all he can get for his kingdom and does so because we often do not take this authority and dominion given to us by Christ. Some people have said that “it has already been done” by Jesus’ shed Blood on the cross at Calvary, and then they do nothing. Yes, it has been done – but we have to use those tools that were lost in the fall of man that Jesus took back at Calvary to make kingdom change through intercession and spiritual warfare. Are all of these 7 mountains dominated by Jesus and His truth? Has each person been saved in each mountain? Are all these mountains demonstrating the Glory of the Lord? Are these structures free from influence and control from “religions” and the devil? Since the answer is “no,” we must intercede and bring heaven to earth in these kingdoms and Jesus must rule. Think about each mountain structure again (Education, Business, Government, Media, Religion, Family, Arts and Entertainment) and evaluate how much Satan has control in each and how much we have taken dominion for Christ in the spiritual realm. The answer is that they sure do need more of Jesus in every mountain and changes need to be made through transformational intercession and spiritual warfare. The enemy, Satan, should not have any power, influence or control in these mountains –  and we CAN do something about it.

Some Christians think “well that is just the way it is and we cannot do anything about it” but, in fact, the Church can be leading the way in each of these mountains. In the United States, we used to have more influence in these mountains than we have at present. Christians should be leading with such as: witty inventions and business ideas in the business sector; the brightest students with the best test scores in education; the best movies with healthy, righteous, outstanding content; the best football players leading a good example to all; the best and most righteous, unselfish leaders in government enacting righteous laws; the lowest rate of divorce and suicide in the nations; and the most looked-up-to heroes in entertainment for young people, as some examples. I am convinced that the drastic changes in America and around the world with the rise of lawlessness, ungodly laws, riots, sin and perverseness is due to the decline of active spiritual warfare and transformational intercession.

If you’re looking for it in the Bible, you will not find the words “Seven Mountains” specifically, but that does not matter since it is still biblical to take dominion, and rule and reign righteously in every sector of society. The Old and New Testaments are replete with admonitions that we are to influence culture….and to NOT be influenced by ungodly secular culture and idolatry. In that sense, the “Seven Mountains teaching” is quite biblical indeed. Jesus did instruct us to be “salt and light” wherever we are as Matt 5: 14-16 says: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

The first recorded reference to the “Seven Mountains” originates with Bill Bright, the founder of Campus Crusade for Christ. In 1975, Bright was having lunch in Colorado with Loren Cunningham (who founded Youth with a Mission). Both men had been given a dream by God, containing a message to give to the other. The message to both concerned Seven Mountains of influence. Another world-changer, Francis Schaeffer received a similar message from the Lord at about the same time. All three believed that in order for the church to impact the world for Jesus Christ, it would be necessary to influence each of the Seven Mountains of society and not just wait for people to come to a church to be influenced and saved.

This can be more understood by realizing that all are not called to typical full-time ministry. It is a message of encouragement to those who are not pastors or ministry staff that they can be called to a different sort of ministry, just in a different venue or platform than inside the four walls of the church but out and about in each of the seven mountain structures. Even the term “full-time ministry” is inaccurate since it is clear from scripture that every believer is a full-time minister, a royal priest in God’s Kingdom, called to change the world for God. God has many pastors in pulpits – the need is outside to reach the lost and change nations. All believers are called to intercede for and influence each mountain.

Christian International, Bill Hamon’s ministry, states: “We believe that God has reserved an Apostolic Prophetic anointing for Kingdom Influencers as part of the Third Reformation of the Church when the Lord will cause His light to shine in the darkness of worldly kingdoms and cause the kingdoms of the world to become the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ. Kingdom Influencers have the ability to cause the one True Light, Jesus Christ, to be known in the 7 Mountains today.” This is in reference to Rev 11:15; “And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.” We are not to just sit around and wait for Jesus’ return for this to happen.

So how do we make these changes for good and how do we intercede for these mountain structures? To begin with, we can intercede for each individual “mountain” one-by-one just like anything else, or all of them at once. Real, true intercession is letting Holy Spirit guide and tell you what to do or declare, just like Jesus only did what He heard the Father say (John 5:19), “Then answered Jesus and said unto them, ‘Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.'”  We must follow Holy Spirit and do what He says to do and declare what He says to declare for each mountain structure as this is the way to lasting transformation and Godly change.

Always begin by following the patterned instruction for all intercession in Ps 100:4, “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” Be proactive by entering into His courts by thanking Him, repenting, praising and worshiping Him; then He will speak to you as to the root cause of a problem and give you ways to war in the spirit realm. This way you will always get to the roots just as Jesus did, and you will find which demons need to be bound and loosed out of each kingdom along with the strategies He will give you to do this. Jer 1:10 says: “See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”

To perform transformational intercession, assess what evil spirits as well as evil ties, curses and idols or idolic structures operate in the specific mountain you are interceding for by inquiring of the Lord. Who or what is worshipped in that mountain, or what is paid homage to? Whatever is worshipped or idolized in that mountain controls that mountain. Is it greed? Is it a demon spirit like Baal or Molech? Is there a history of witches and occult within that mountain or that have attacked that mountain trying to take control or destroy it? Are there curses upon that mountain due to sin or curses from others? Does any certain religion or political structure dominate? What do the leaders of the structure or business believe in and who do they worship? Also, what strongholds prevail that need to be cast down and destroyed?

Also, assess what evil deeds and broken covenants need repentance. For each mountain, we must stand in the gap and repent for things that we realize were done in an ungodly way and for sin committed in each mountain, repenting on behalf of those who did not know how wrong it was to do these ungodly things (just as Jesus forgave in Luke 23:34). I would say that 90% of all transformational intercession involves repentance. We use identificational repentance by standing in the gap to remit these sins and to break the curses that these sins caused by repenting, then we cleanse the “mountain” by the washing of the water of God’s Word and by pleading the Blood of Jesus. Simply stated, repent for sins committed as you stand in the gap, saying “Father forgive them for they did not know what they were doing in regards to this sin against you;” and then say “I plead the Blood of Jesus over this mountain structure of______.”

On the other hand, always assess what redeeming qualities are in the mountain you are concerned with (such as what Godly laws have been enacted, who has been helped by that mountain in a Godly way, how prevalent is the kingdom of the One True God in that mountain, how has this mountain helped the widows and orphans, etc.), then always build up, expound upon and intercede for those redemptive gifts. Transformational intercession for these kingdom mountain structures peels off the layers of the demonic in a kingdom mountain one-by-one, like layers of peeling an onion; but we always must build up the redemptive gifts and good qualities of anything we do deliverance on. Jer 1:10 tells us to uproot and pull down, but adds that in the end we must build and plant after the evil has been uprooted. Like anything else, if we do not bring healing to the mountain and replace with good, Godly qualities, enactments, rules and order, building up the redemptive gifts, then the demons can return to that void after being cast out, just as it states in Matt 12:43- 45, “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first…” But this does not happen when we build up, restore and heal after the evil is cast out.

Since there are differing types of Intercessors (see my blog https://strategicprayercommandmin.com/2019/04/08/types-of-intercessors-what-type-are-you/), then crisis, government and political, disaster, school and family intercessors, for instance, might take one of the seven mountain structures as their project, changing them into His  kingdom mountains, using their specific intercession specialties.

Any intercessory group might take on a certain mountain as their project. Intercede for the head of each particular mountain. Declare Godly leaders to be the heads since whoever leads the mountain controls the mountain as well. Christians should be the leaders of every mountain to impart Godly enactments and rules, to bring the anointing of God that trickles down on all, to insure that there is no corruption and that truth prevails, that Godliness abounds and is the theme of that mountain, that sin is abated, and many more reasons. If the leader is not saved, then intercede for their salvation and plead the Blood of Jesus over them.

We must intercede that God raises up Christian influencers in every area of each of these mountains, as this has been done scarcely. Also, interceding in tongues for one or each mountain for a certain period of time each day is extremely powerful. Decree and declare that the mountain is changed by God, that Jesus is Lord over it, and take authority over that mountain in the spirit realm. We have all authority to change these kingdom structures for the Glory of God. “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19). Always do these actions by faith as it is impossible to please God without faith (Heb 11:6).

Another helpful strategy is to declare the Lord’s prayer out loud for your mountain burden and insert the name of your concerned mountain. As an example, declare “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done for the mountain of entertainment in New York.” Continue inserting the name of the mountain you are interceding for throughout the rest of the Lord’s prayer. Also, use the Lord’s prayer out loud as a decree for the most influential person in each mountain and insert their name (saved or unsaved). Do this daily.

Another fun and faith-filled action we can do to bring change is to pick one improper or ungodly influencer in the mountain you are interceding for and declare that they are saved and delivered. Much spiritual warfare has been done in the mountain of entertainment recently in Hollywood and we have seen several high-profile influencers of society getting saved and influencing others for good. We have also seen justice in this mountain for wrongdoings exposed here as groups have interceded. It is especially fun to intercede for a person who makes you angry or brings disgust because they are doing ungodly things in any mountain structure. For instance, take an entertainer or legislator you might feel disdain for in their actions and words, and declare that they are saved and will do a mighty work for Jesus. It will be an awesome exercise of love for you to do this. Find appropriate scriptures and declare them out loud for that person to make Godly changes. Decree and declare that they come into the callings and plans that God has for their life instead of the destiny that the world, or Satan, has for them. Decree and declare that they have dreams, visions, and words of knowledge from the Lord, that God sends Godly evangelists that will have the right words, and that their hearts and eyes are opened. Declare a “Damascus Road experience” for them.  The Bible says that we can remit their sins in John 20:23, “Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.” Remit means to pardon or make payment for. This is done by standing in the gap and simply saying something like this: “Lord, please forgive the sins of ______ and retain them no more” which is entirely biblical. Removing any darkness brings more light to God’s kingdom.

Also, take someone in a mountain as a project that you are interceding for who is standing up for God and declare grace and favor, protection and courage for that person as it is so hard to influence the world for God in any “mountain.” Decree that the Godly influencers have the helpers and the provision they need to continue their kingdom mandate. Plead the Blood of Jesus over those Christians in that mountain who need courage and strength. Ask for the angelic host to assist the saved workers in each mountain. Also intercede that everyone is in their proper place in the mountain, properly aligned. Declare that people who are not in their proper place to be removed and in God’s perfect will.

It is never alright with the Lord, and never biblical, to do what is called charismatic witchcraft or soulish praying by declaring such things as a business failing or that something bad happens to the seemingly ungodly person (even in hopes that they repent) – for it is the goodness of God that leads people to repentance (Rom 2:4). Declare God’s blessings over them as the Word says to “Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not” in Romans 12:14. Declare God’s Presence over them and bless them instead of cursing them since the Bible says in Matt 7:2: “For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” You do not want those curses to come back on you or your family. Never send curses back on people but curses are always to be reversed for good. We are never to destroy things and buildings (like a palm reader’s business) but we are to intercede for change so person who owns the business follows God (for example we can declare that the palm reader comes into their calling to be a prophet for God and the building to be a church or a Christian business. Instead of getting irritated with an entity, person or business, pray that there are changes for God and determine to cause a Godly influence through your intercession. There are so many ways we can bless our enemies and make Godly changes in their lives. We need to bring the light and God’s love, not darkness. On the other hand, it is always alright to declare justice in your concerned mountain as this is a blessing as well and mercy always triumphs over justice (James 2:13). We all need justice; and God’s justice is always fair, precise and good.

I have had many people tell me that we cannot intercede for a sector that we are not involved in, or for a place in which we do not live, or a building we do not own; but that could not be further from the truth for God told us in His Word to take dominion over all the earth and never said “take dominion on those areas you only own or work in!” It is not witchcraft to intercede for another’s business or family or kingdom mountain structure as long as we are praying good, healthy and biblical things, and as we declare things to be done in His will (not your own).

Another activity that is biblical is to prayerwalk around a business location. For instance, prayerwalk around your local schools, businesses, courthouses, city halls, masonic lodges or capitol buildings. You do not own these buildings but it is certainly biblical and lawful to pray and take dominion for Christ there. Worship and pray in tongues as you walk. You can anoint your shoes on the bottom before you prayerwalk, you can prayerfully anoint buildings where appropriate, and you can also stake buildings where allowed. Apostolic Hubs are global networks or hubs of mature five-fold leaders across all seven mountains of society which equip, train, and launch other maturing five-fold in the body of Christ to do the work of the Kingdom in an innovative and mature way, promoting the kingdom of God and not of themselves. They are built only by intercession and spiritual warfare. Apostolic Hubs are to hold together and hold up all of the Godly kingdom mountains, so intercede for them as well in your area.

It does not require much time to make kingdom change. Scripture declarations and decreeing the Lord’s prayer for that mountain or a person in that mountain, and praying in tongues can take only minutes but will bring dramatic and lasting change. If you watch the news, intercede for an influencer, a media person, an entertainer or government official while you watch or pray in tongues while you read the newspaper.

We know that each of the 7 mountains heavily influence a nation and that they can experience full Godly change with proper intercession; therefore it is true that when you change the mountain, you change your nation. As you intercede, look for the fruit of your intercession as there is always proof in the fruit.

We are commanded to influence these mountain structures as Jesus commissioned us to do in Matt 28:19: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

So go forth and biblically change each kingdom mountain structure for His Glory and for salvation for all “pre-saints.”
