I was recently consulting with a close prophetic intercessor friend about my deep concern for dear friends and others who are Jewish who do not know Yeshua (Jesus) as Lord, who seem to have closed minds, are quite liberal and what I call “ICO’s” (Jewish, “In Culture Only”). They adhere to the culture of their Jewishness but do not worship God nor follow His Word with some even being agnostics and atheists. They are Jewish in a cultural sense but do not truly acknowledge God in a spiritual or soul sense, nor do they submit to Him, even though they might know a bit of the Torah, were bar and bas mitzvah-ed and follow the Jewish Holidays. It is all cultural to them.
I grew up in schools attended mostly by Jewish kids, so I learned a lot from them and thank God for a love of these people instilled in me. I have kept in touch with so many over the years through social media and it has become apparent what they believe and do not believe.
So, I was telling this intercessor friend that I have been trying to break through in intercession for all Jewish people so they will see that Yeshua is the true Messiah and that He has already come; but have seen little breakthrough. I have repented for their liberalism and closed minds and declared often that the veil is removed (2 Cor 3:14 NKJV says: “But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ”) with little success.
So, we inquired of the Lord and He immediately downloaded a strategy to break these hindrances. It was surprising but oh so easy as He said to repent for all generational curses in their Jewish ancestry just like we have done for any culture and people group.

Excited at this word of knowledge, I pondered how I had never heard anyone in any assembly, conference or webcast repent for the generational sins of the Jewish people. More than any other culture in history, we know more about the history of the Jewish people than any other group on the earth from God’s Word, the Bible.
Of course, there is absolutely no judgmentalism in this as all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. We do this in love and concern for the Jewish people through whom God brought us the law, the Bible, the tabernacle, prophecy, and eventually Jesus Christ.
I have taught intercession for so many years beginning as Lead Intercessor of the Dwelling Place Church in Hemet, CA which was featured in the first Transformations video by George Otis, Jr. as having successful ongoing transformation of a community which led to many salvations, healings, deliverances, and revival. I have continued to teach transformational intercession on webcasts, seminars and zooms, in churches and classrooms, and have worked in major prophetic and intercession conferences – but in all this, I have never heard any repentance for Jewish generations, standing in the gap for their ancient sins, repenting for them and breaking resultant curses. And neither had my friend.

It has been proven that when we repent for the sins of people and people groups, God’s Shekinah Glory shines into their hearts and people come to the Lord rather rapidly. He is just waiting for Christians to lovingly stand in the gap and repent on behalf of others.
I have heard many, and have repented myself, of the abuse of many people groups, the mistreatment of First Peoples, slavery, abuse of Asians during the building of the railroads and internment during World War 2, for paganism and witchcraft, covenant breaking, human sacrifice and murder, and many other sad acts that happened in history – but never for the Jewish people.
We have repented for such sins as the United States not accepting some boatloads of Jewish people during the holocaust, for the Jewish people voting for people opposed to Israel, for the Jewish people not recognizing Jesus (Yeshua) as Messiah and much more but have not looked to breaking generational curses mentioned in the Bible.
We need to repent for such acts as the Israelites making a golden calf, for all their idolatry and worship of Baal and Ashtoreth, for their lack of faith when they left Egypt, for bringing idols into the temple, for eating food sacrificed to idols, for not heeding the word of the prophets, for murmuring against Moses, for the Pharisaical mindset during Jesus’ time, and much more. We can also repent for the Jewish people forsaking God, cursing God, not worshipping Him, etc. in more present time as well.
Countless times, God’s Chosen people (Deut 7:6) suffered because of their idolatry and not putting God first even as the prophets continually warned them; but we can repent for these past sins by standing in the gap, breaking generational curses all the way back to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Then, veils are lifted and they will not be Jewish “in culture only,” but will see the One True, Creator God and His Jewish Son, Yeshua.

I was blessed to have gone to the exhibit from the Israel Antiquities Association of the Dead Sea Scrolls years ago, but rather than being so interested in the scrolls, I noticed a full room of stone homes from several towns unearthed in ancient Israel which all had an altar to Baal and Ashtoreth with small idols on the altars. According to their excavations, this was found in every home in villages throughout Israel. The most astonishing thing was that there were very few human remains found in these villages which proved to the archeologists that the Jewish people who lived there were taken away by conquering enemies into slavery as proven by the Bible time and again because of their idolatry and manmade gods.
Jesus said to forgive others “for they do not know what they were doing” in Luke 23:34, and He said that we can remit another’s sins in John 20:23. So just like repenting for generational sins in our own families or for an individual we are praying for, we must forgive them and repent for the sins of the Jewish people especially as we become One New Man.

Deut 5:7-9 (NLT) says: “You must not have any other god but me. 8 “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind, or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. 9 You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me.”
Therefore, sins of the fathers can continue for even thousands of years if the sin is not repented of as the behavior continues. But a person redeemed by Jesus Christ and His Blood can stand in the gap and repent on their behalf. And this brings miracles.
Why has this not been done before? Simply, because of God’s timing as Yeshua/Jesus is coming soon. It is time.
So, let us remember our Jewish brothers and sisters, and in love repent for their idolatry and any sins of forsaking God. Then, to set them free we must break all generational curses because of these sins all the way back to when the sins first began in their forefathers, all in Yeshua/Jesus’ matchless name.

Great article Melissa! I pray for Israel daily and the Lord has shown me how people can let their traditions take the place of God’s Word. Then their traditions become their idol.
Matthew 15:6 states: “So for the sake of your tradition (the rules handed down by your forefathers), you have set aside the Word of God [depriving it of force and authority and making it of no effect].”
I love praying God’s word, so I pray that they will not forsake the Word of God for the sake of their traditions.
How wonderful when the “circumcision of the flesh” becomes also “circumcision of the heart”.
Be Blessed!
